January 27th, 2023: Today is YOM HASHOAH (Holocaust Remembrance Day)

Upon this one day, Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) we remember those that suffered, those that fought, and those that died. Six million Jews were murdered. Many families were completely destroyed.

The Shoah was the World War II genocide and persecution of the European Jews. Between 1941 and 1945, across German-occupied Europe, Nazi Germany and its collaborators systematically murdered some six million Jews, around two-thirds of Europe's Jewish population. The murders were carried out in pogroms and mass shootings; by a policy of extermination through labour in concentration camps; and in gas chambers and gas vans in German extermination camps, chiefly Auschwitz, Bełżec, Chełmno, Majdanek, Sobibór, and Treblinka in occupied Poland.

As a descendant of Italian Jews, I stand as living proof and evidence that the God of Israel lives, He is faithful to fulfill His promises to the Jewish people, to Israel and the very fact that we, the Jewish people, are still here to tell our story after so many plans of extermination and annihilation were hindered/impeded, due to the miraculous perseverance of the Jewish people and before anything else the mercy and divine protection of the Almighty G-d of Israel!

At USA Holocaust Memorial Museum, Washington DC:

Personally, my Elia family is only alive miraculously because of G-d’s divine plan, He made my ancestors leave Europe right before the Shoah (Holocaust), while the persecutions in Europe were still alive but not impossible to escape from!

Those who remained in Italy with my same family name Elia, אליה, were sent to death camps and were humiliated, tortured and massacred by the Nazis! I know with all my being that if I would have been alive in Europe at that time I too would have been murdered for this Jewish last name (even if I was assimilated to the European culture or a secular Jew), for practicing the Jewish faith or for rising up to defend and try to save other innocent lives!

Silence is a sin, and it is my duty to educate others as those who do not learn history or cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it!

Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak IS to speak! Not to act IS to act!

As a Jew, it is my duty and my honor to be a voice for millions that are gone against the hate and to say NEVER AGAIN! Time to RISE UP for our nations to stand with the Almighty God and His people and for ISRAEL !
